by - 8/29/2016

I went on a holiday trip to Dalmatian coast with my family for 4 days. We went to Nin, Zadar, Šibenik, Trogir and also visited some smaller places. All of that will be described in a post below, including a lot of pictures. All photos and icons are mine so don't use them without my permission.

Z družino smo se 4 dni potepali in raziskovali Dalmacijo. Obiskali smo Nin, Zadar, Šibenik, Trogir in še nekaj manjših krajev.

Our first stop was Nin, a small town near Zadar. It's old city centre is located on an island around which there used to acquire salt. It is a town with a lot of history. It was founded by Liburians and later on there has been a centre of a medieval Christian Bishopric.

Today you are able to see a lot of old preserved buildings including a 9th-century church of the Holy Cross. This church is supposingly the smallest cathedral in the world. The town centre is very small and packed with little stone houses that give the appearance of it being stuck in time.

If you have any spare time left (sadly we didn't), the city of Nin is known for its beautiful sand beaches ''kraljičina plaža''.

There is a great sighting if you drive on a road from Nin to Zaton. It's a small church called the Church of St.Nicholas that sits on the top of a small hill. This is a great place to take pictures, because of it's picturesque look.

Zadar is the most northern Dalmatian city. We stopped in the city only for a two hour walk. It is a beautiful big city with a small old center. It is full of interesting attractions, parks and old buildings with a lot of history.

                                                                       ____

Šibenik is a town in North Dalmatia, that is located near the area where the river Krka flows into the sea. It is a bigger city, that was first mentioned in 1066. Throughout the history it had a lot of different rulers (it was underneath the Hungarian and Venetian rule).
The main attraction of Šibenik is definitly the Cathedral of St. James, but there are also 3 fortresses surrounding the city, that are worth to visit.

Near city of Šibenik there is a small town where we were staying. It is called Zablače. Near the area there is a path that bridges over the sea to an old forthress. The view is so stunning and it is also a perfect place to take pictures. It is nice because there is not a lot of people, so you can really enjoy the environment in peace.

Solin is north-east of the city of Split. It is a small town that was build on the top of antique remains of city Solona. I visited the place with my family on a very hot day. You will need a pair of good shoes and a lot of water

The last day we visited Krka national park. It is located nort of Šibenik. The National Park spreads over 109 square kilometers around river Krka. The most visited area is Roški waterfall, but we visited Krka waterfalls, which were also very heavily crowded with turists. The area is also known for the island Visovec, where you can visit a Roman Catholic monastary.
In the area that we visited it is forbiden to swim except in one area (you can see it on the picture down below), so if you want to, you can bring swimwear but be flexible it will be crowded. If you want to avoid masses of turists, visit the area in early autumn.

                                                                      ____
